Venue Map
Judo BC 2025 Provincial Judo Championships will be held at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre, UNBC. Accreditation, Check-in, Parking Pay Station, Concession, VIP/Referee Room, Warm-up Area, Washrooms are located on the main (ground) level. Weigh-in Rooms, Change Rooms, Washrooms and the Competition Area are located on the lower level and can be accessed via stairs or elevator. There are water stations on both levels.
Parking
Parking is available at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre and requires payment. All parking on the UNBC campus is pay parking. You can pay via app or at the parking pay station located in the lobby of the building.

Accreditation
There are accreditation cards for athletes, coaches, and media. Accreditation cards will be available for pick up on Friday, April 4 after 4:00pm in the lobby area at the main (ground) floor of the venue building.
All athletes who will weigh-in will need their accreditation cards and proper ID. All coaches will require their accreditation cards to sit in the coaching chair during a match.
Weigh-in
Weigh-in will be conducted in the lower level of the building. Both official and unofficial scales will be located in the weigh-in rooms (see Venue Map). Unofficial weigh-in will be available starting 4:00pm.
Each athlete must present identification. This includes accreditation card, and proper ID. Photo ID is required for athletes U18 and older.
Examples of proper ID: drivers’ licence, Canadian passport, citizenship card, permanent resident card, medical card, student card. Photocopies and digital copies of proper ID are acceptable.
Removal of Clothing
- U12 AND YOUNGER ATHLETES: Must be in judogi pants and t-shirt – no exceptions. No weight tolerance. U12 and younger, are only required to weigh-in at the tournament site if a weight spot check is required due to safety concerns.
- U14 TO U18 ATHLETES: Must be in underwear (underpants and bra; t-shirt optional). Athletes of these age divisions are NOT allowed to remove their underclothing. 0.2 kg weight tolerance is allowed.
- U21 AND OLDER: Must be in underwear (underpants and bra; t-shirt optional) or athletes of these age divisions are allowed to remove underwear to weigh-in. If so, there should be no minors in the room. NO weight tolerance.
- FOR EVERYONE: No socks or jewelry allowed.
Warm-up Area
The warm-up area is located at the main (ground) level of the building near the lobby area (see Venue Map). Competition mats will be available for warm-up only at the start of the day, and between blocks for 15 mins.
Medals
Medals will be awarded at the end of the block.
Food & Water
There will be a concession stand on site offering some drinks and snacks. We also recommend planning for the day, and packing food to bring with you. Food locations and choices in the area are limited.
Please bring a water bottle. We encourage the use of the water fountains on site.
Athletic Therapist
There will be an Athletic Therapist available at the tournament on a first come, first served basis. They will be offering $10 per tape job and this includes the cost of the tape.
U8/U10/U12
Accreditation: U8/U10/U12 athletes are required to pick up their accreditation cards for check-in. Accreditation cards for U8/U10/U12 will be located in the main (ground) floor of the building, at the U8/U10/U12 check-in table (see Venue Map).
Check-in: U8/U10/U12 athletes are required to check-in at the check-in table on Friday, April 4, at 4:45pm. Check-in will be located on the main (ground) floor, in the lobby area of the building (see Venue Map).
Warm-up: There will be a 15-20 mins group warm-up on the competition mats at 5:30pm.
Judogi: White judogi is mandatory. Blue judge is optional and can only be worn if your name is the second person. ie. Smith vs Lam, if you are Lam, you may wear a blue judogi. Judogis should be the appropriate size. Sleeves at minimum should reach your wrist bone, top of your hand (when arms are outstretched straight in front of your body). Pants at minimum should reach your ankle bone.
T-shirt: Female judokas must wear a white round neck t-shirt under their judogi. Coloured t-shirts or v-neck t-shirts are not allowed.
Hair: Hair must not fall on or below the collar of the judogi. Hair ties should not have any metal.
Weigh-in: U12 and younger, are not required to weigh-in at the tournament site. Weigh-in at the tournament site will only occur if a weight spot check is required due to safety concerns.
Draws: Will be posted by noon Thursday, April 3 and you will receive an email when the draws have been posted. Please check the draws and know your mat — competitors should go directly to their mats after warm-up. If there is an issue with the draws, please contact your coach and have them contact general@judobc.ca.
Coaches
Eligibility: Coaches must be minimum NCCP Dojo Instructor certified. Coaches without this minimum requirement will not receive an accreditation card and will not be allowed to coach in the coaching chair.
Meetings: There will be a referee/coaches meeting Saturday, April 5 at 8:00am before the competition start. It is strongly encouraged for all coaches to attend.

Referees
Meetings: There is a referee meeting scheduled for Friday, April 4, at 5:30pm for all those refereeing the U8/U10/U12 competition. On Saturday, April 5, at 8:00am is the coaches/referee meeting before the start of competition for the rest of the competitors.

Teams: The referee teams will be sent out mid-week (~ Thursday, April 3) so you will know in advance who you will be refereeing with and what mat area you will be attached to.
Media
Media accreditation is required for access in the restricted areas for photography or video. To request media accreditation, please email general@judobc.ca
Provincial Practice
There will be a provincial practice on Sunday, April 6, on the competition mats, at the competition venue, Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre.
The provincial practice is open to U14 and above, orange belt and above, no exceptions. It is recommended that all Team BC athletes and athletes competing at the 2025 Canadian Open Nationals attend the practice.
Time: 8:30 am – 10:30 am. Please arrive 20 minutes early so that practice may start on time.
