February 2, 2022
Currently club practices and provincial team training are the only judo activities that are allowed by Judo BC. The Judo BC Board is hoping to determine when regional training can resume in the coming week.
Please note as of January 16th, Judo BC requires proof of vaccination for all eligible ages (currently ages 5+) for participation at provincial level events including, but not limited to, Youth Provincials and Pacific International. Most kids ages 11 and younger won’t be impacted by this, as the majority of events they participate in are at the club and regional level.

September 7, 2021
We are currently waiting for more information from ViaSport BC regarding the proof of vaccination requirements and how it impacts judo participants ages 12 to 17. For now we know that participants ages 18+ will be required to show proof of the 1st dose of the Covid-19 vaccination as of September 13th. The BC Government will be providing more information this week on the proof of vaccination process.
Step 3 of the Judo Restart Plan
July 6, 2021
We are currently in Step 3 of the Judo Restart plan shown below. All Judo Clubs are required to follow this plan in conjunction with the ViaSport Return to Sport Restart 2.0 plan.
Please note that not all clubs are able to restart at this time, due to a number of factors including: access to facilities and coach/volunteer availability. Please contact your club directly for more details on their plans for the summer and the fall.
We encourage all our clubs to stay tuned to Club Updates and club emails for the latest information.
Judo in BC is a sport recognized and regulated by ViaSport BC, the government agency that oversees, funds and supports organized amateur sport in British Columbia. As such, Judo BC and our affiliated clubs, follow strict policies, procedures and protocols to ensure the safety, health and wellness of our members.
Previous COVID-19 Information
Judo BC supported and encouraged the resumption of judo activities during the BC Phase 2 & 3 of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing the protocols outlined in the Judo BC Return to Judo documents attached below are followed. The Phase 2 & 3 protocols are based on the viaSport BC Return to Sport Guidelines, the Judo Canada Return to Judo Guidelines and the International Judo Federation Recommended Protocols for the Resumption of Judo Activities. They are intended for use by our member clubs along with any additional protocols as required by facility operators, regional health authorities & municipalities.
Please note that the protocols to resume judo during Phase 2 & 3 of the BC Restart Plan are extensive and it may not be practical or possible for all of our member clubs to resume activities during this phase. Some clubs may have to wait until future phases to restart. Many club’s plans to restart may also be affected by the facilities and municipalities in which they operate.
Individual Judo BC members will receive notification from their local club when their club is ready to resume activities.
