Ron Kuramoto (Steveston Judo Club) was honored last night at Sport BC’s 18th annual Presidents’ Awards Ceremony. The Presidents’ Award promotes and celebrates the spirit of volunteerism by giving member organizations an opportunity to acknowledge and thank an individual who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment to their organization. An annual ceremony is held to recognize these outstanding individuals.
“Having been involved in judo for some 48 years, Ron participates and leads in all aspects of the sport. He is the head instructor at the Steveston Judo Club, a 5th degree black belt, a national kata medalist and one of the main instructors teaching various katas in BC. He is also a judo referee with IJF “A” qualifications, the highest international level available and a member of the Judo BC Referee Committee. Beyond that, he contributes large amounts of time to organising and running the Pacific International Judo Tournament, Judo BC’s premier annual event. All of these activities are done on a volunteer basis and are an excellent demonstration of someone dedicated to giving back to our sport”, noted Sandy Kent, President of Judo BC during last night ceremony.
Congratulations Ron!
