On July 25 Verlin passed away with her husband of 47 years, Barrie, at her side. Her daughter, Marsha and Sean Johnston and granddaughter Jessica (Peachland), her son Barrie James (BJ) and Hiromi Aldrich (Japan) comforted and supported her through the days and nights. The family thanks all their friends and caregivers for their comfort and support through the days. Verlin is predeceased by her parents Stan and Velma Sowerby.
We will remember Verlin for her devotion to family, honesty and fair play, active participation in her clubs, community affairs and her 50 year association with the Judo Community, as well as being a member of the Mercedes Benz Club of America, the Croquet League of Mill Bay and the Gold Wing Motorcycle Association of Victoria. She loved cooking, quilting, travel, visiting over 40 countries, bike rides through North America and wintering in Indio, California. There was great enjoyment in accomplishing a five time championship in the Calgary Aquarium Societies, Aquarium Beautiful, as well as several Bowling and Croquet Trophies. Verlin lived thru and for her family.
A Celebration of Verlin’s life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services Chapel, 375 Brae Road, Duncan on August 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
