Dear President Sandy Kent and 1st Vice President Al Hadvick,
We are Alwyn Grobbelaar Head Coach and instructor of Ritoru Tatsu (little Dragon) Kempton Judo Club, Kempton Park, and Dave Pike Saizen Judo Club, Eat london, South Africa.
We were very privilege to have met one of your finest Master woman’s Judoka, Sandra Hewson at the Commonwealth Games and post International Training camp held in Gardiff, Wales earlier this year. She’s an exceptional Judoka, Coach in mind and spirit, one with and open mind, very open hearted, friendly and thoughtfulness to her fellow Judoka’s all over the world. Have a lot of experience and knowledge to share especially with our South African Judo coaches and young Judoka’s. Like Sandra Hewson, Dave Pike and myself, sharing Ideas and opinions, and excellent training tips during our training sessions on the post training camp.
Although this may be an overlooked by many in the world, I feel that I must bring to your attention the outstanding help, assistance, open heartiness and thoughtfulness we have receive by all your clubs, Judoka’s and your 2nd Vice President and representative. Also to Dr Abri de beer and Shane Jordaan members of your local Judo club’s in BC Canada whom took the effort and responsibility on themselves to receive all the donated Judo Gi’s from Sandra Hewson and delivered these to us in South Africa. Ritoru Tatsu Kempton Judo Club was very privilege and honored to have your representative Judoka, Shane Jordaan and his family visiting and practice with us, to learn from them and they from us, and hopefully there will be more players from Canada visiting us in future to come.
We are, of course, very delighted to have had the pleasure of corresponding and speaking with Sandra Hewson, Dr. Abri De Beer and Shane Jordaan (and his lovely family) during the past few weeks. Their professional and courteous attitude, expert knowledge, and patience in handling this specific issues of helping children in need and for Dave to open a new Judo Dojo in East London, South Africa to teach, coach and educate underprivileged children in his community were very important to us.
The heartily donations ensured one less concern for myself and definitely for Dave Pike who opened Saizen Judo Club, and we are deeply appreciative of all the Canadian Judoka’s assistance and heartily and unselfish support. While I know that Canada Judo is renowned for their Judo players support it provides, I feel like Mrs. Sandra Hewson and her team treated a child’s needs with the utmost importance, love, friendship, helping hand and without any request form us at all and they did not ask anything in return.
Please find attached find a letter in a PDF format, please if you feel in it your heart and with a small request from us out of the South to forward this letter to all your Club’s with in Canada just to let them know of our deepest appreciation, we all here appreciated what they all have done to make one child’s live worth whiling, to be part of a Sport like Judo, that we all can share, as Jigoro Kano wished for was Mutual Benefit to all over the world, and you all made it come true and have a meaning to a child in need, so can have the great experience in Judo as what we all experience through friendship all over.
Sincerely,
Alwyn Grobbelaar and Dave Pike
