Montreal, January 15, 2012 – Canadian judokas participation in the World Masters Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan, was rather short-lived. Nicholas Tritton (Under 73 kg), Kelita Zupancic (Under 70 kg) and Amy Cotton (Under 78 kg) were all eliminated in their first bout.
After having received a pass into the first round, Nicholas Tritton was disqualified at the end of his combat against the Ukraine’s Volodymyr Soroka.
Kelita Zupancic lost her bout against Switzerland’s Julianne Robra via judges’ decision. Amy Cotton lost her battle to Hungary’s Abigel Joo, when the latter scored an ippon.
Near the end of January, Zupancic and Cotton will participate in the Bulgarian World Cup in Sofia, while Tritton will compete in the Tbilissi, in Georgia.
