Judo BC was pleased to present the Steve Sasaki Memorial Award to Seiko and Penny Ouchi at the 2014 AGM held on June 7, 2014 in Richmond. This award is presented annually to a long time member of Judo BC who exemplifies the principles of Kodokan Judo. Seiko has been the sensei at the Kamloops Judo Club and Chair of the Judo BC Referee Committee for many years and has mentored countless referees in BC. He has refereed at the Commonwealth, Pan Ams, and many National Championships. Seiko and Penny have put countless hours into tournaments including provincial championships, national championships, and the World Championships held in Hamilton. Together, they have hosted the Kamloops Open for many years and have nurtured it into one of the largest tournaments in Canada and Western North America. The 2013 National Champion ships hosted in Richmond, BC won a CSTA award for Best Event Under a Budget of $250,000 and this would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of both Penny and Seiko.
Congratulations and Thank You!
