Judo BC was proud to present Lisa Nakajima and Brandon Jobb with the 2013 Athlete of the Year awards on February 16, 2014. Both athletes were together at the 2014 Pacific International Tournament at the Richmond Olympic Oval where Judo BC’s President Sandy Kent made the presentations. Congratulations to both athletes.
Highlights from 2013 for Lisa Nakajima, from Steveston Judo Club and coached by Kane Morishita, include Gold at the Canadian Judo Championships, and Gold at the Pacific International. Always proving to be a well rounded individual, Nakajima started Medical school in the fall.
Brandon Jobb from Abbotsford Judo Club, coached by Tokue Suda, has moved to Montreal to train with the National Training Centre and was recently awarded AAP funding by Sport Canada. Jobb’s 2013 highlights include Bronze at the Junior European Cup in Portugal, Gold at the Canadian Judo Championships, and Gold at the Quebec Open.
