We are pleased to announce the 2013 National Championships being held at the Richmond Olympic Oval, July 4 – 7, is one of 64 events receiving funding from the Hosting BC grant funding program. This funding is received from the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, and administered by viaSport British Columbia.
“Judo BC is grateful to receive this support which will allows us to put on a world class event, provide a high level competitive opportunity for our members who otherwise might not be able to afford to attend Nationals, and for the opportunity to endow the City of Richmond and Judo BC with a lasting legacy.”
Sandy Kent, President Judo BC
“Hosting BC is a major BC success story. We’ve been funding sporting events in British Columbia through this program since 2004, and it’s hard to overstate the positive and lasting impact it has on individual communities. Each event brings with it thousands of visitors and leaves a legacy of trained volunteers, not to mention community enthusiasm. We’re proud to invest in sport development through Hosting BC.”
Bill Bennett, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development
“Sport has the power to transform a community. The funding provided through Hosting BC helps bring more sporting events to more communities across British Columbia. In turn, this will inspire people to be active through sport, support development of our local athletes, and create economic benefits for the host community.”
Scott Ackles, CEO, viaSport
