On November 28, 2024, a team of Judo BC athletes and coaches travelled to Japan to gain judo experience and immerse themselves in Japanese culture. It was a trip they will never forget.
Here is a recap from one of the athletes, Hannah Yin, Prince George Judo Club:
At the beginning of the month, 24 team BC athletes and 4 coaches had the amazing opportunity to train in Japan for two weeks. The team trained with Japanese judoka at many different universities and high schools in Tokyo and Osaka, gaining valuable experience and making new connections. After the many randoris and morning runs, we have all become better judoka. Highlights of the trip included watching the Tokyo Grand Slam, one of the biggest judo tournaments in the world, staying at the Kodokan Judo Institute in Tokyo, karaoke, and going to Don Quijote every day. We also visited Asakusa, Shibuya, Sinjuku, Ueno, Osaka castle, Dotonbori street, and Nara park. Thank you to all of our parents, coaches, and sponsors who made this unforgettable trip possible!
