Campbell River Judo Club parent, coach and instructor Volker Pfeifer pass away in his sleep on Friday, March 6, 2015. Darcy Yule, Head Instructor and President of the Campbell River Judo Club posted the following on Facebook:
“Volker was a great inspiration to us all. He was always willing to help the club in any way he could. Numerous times I asked him for help or advise he always was there. I will miss him so much.”
I believe I can say with all certainty that one of Volker’s life’s ambitions was to achieve is Shodan last year. He also had just completed the theory part of his Judo Dojo Instructor training. Judo was becoming his way of life.
I will always remember his German sense of humour, his hearty laugh, and the way he answered the phone when he knew I was calling “Wellll Darrrrcy”.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the Pfeifer family and the members of the Campbell River Judo Club.
